Linda
Shier has been passionate
about capturing the beauty
of nature from behind her
lens for twenty years. As
an avid rider competing in
stadium jumping and eventing
for more than 15 years in
California, it was a natural
transition to capture horses
and their beauty from behind
the lens. Her philosophy is
You cant improve
upon the beauty of nature,
only try to capture it with
an image that reflects the
memory. Through
her work behind the camera
, Linda brings forth the emotion
or spirit of her subject.
While technical effectiveness
is pertinent to creating a
fine photograph, without capturing
the mood, emotion and feeling,
you have created only a one-dimensional
impression. A perfectionist
and a true artist at heart,
Ms Shier feels if her work
doesnt touch the viewer,
she hasnt done her job.
One of Linda's favorite ways
to capture that perfect shot
is in a natural setting, alone
with the horses in the early
morning. The bond she feels
towards her animal subjects
is difficult to describe,
but because of it the

horses
seem to cooperate without
any fear of the camera or
photographer. Her genuine
love and natural rapport
with horses eventually led
her to pursue her present
photography career. In her
studies of Ansel Adams, she
honed her love for nature
and landscape images while
developing her talent for
equine photographic artistry.
She is now recognized amongst
some of the top equine photographers
of today. In the past, Ms
Shier restricted her work
to fine art photography galleries
in the US & Europe, but
recently she has decided to
offer her photography and
artistry to the public.
